Sometimes at night,
Outside my window I can see,
Through the settled calm,
Something smiling back at me.
A smile with more silver than the moon,
And a brightness holding stars as its slave.
Bidding silent whispers of yearning,
For my heart to gently crave.
It was a smile darker than dusk,
Softer than the velvet cast on all things.
A quiet bid of beckoning,
Pulling me by my strings.
With that smile came two hands,
One holding a wish, the other a prayer.
Both there for me to take,
But only one would I dare.
While these hands were patient and kind,
Mine were small and slight.
One or the other, both were too heavy,

There is a veil of purple flowers
Everywhere I see.
I think I might gather some,
In the time that I have free.
I’ll wear some on my wrists,
Right where my hands are tied.
Something pretty there to hide the bonds,
To say that I never lied.
I don some across my shoulders,
For the weight of comfort they give.
Something loving there to hold me tight,
And bid me further to live.
Around my throat I wrap them snug,
To hold back what I cannot speak.
So I can smile and grow them wild,

Winding around me so light.
A quiet burden borne so long,

Silence rang throughout the court, before there was a sudden uproar of voices, melodic and sharp alike, raising a cacophony to rake at one's ear drums. But it was ended by a quick, mighty shout for silence, from none other than the king himself. Slowly, he approached the girl, blue eyes as cold as ice. "...What would you of this?" He demanded quietly, tone level. "Word spreads like wildfire in the underbrush, word of a heavy darkness settled in the pit of your veins. Word spoken straight from the mouths of the spirits themselves. And now, with one such creature among us, my people are in danger." He stared piercingly.
“I'm not saying they're not killing each other,” I explain. “I can see from the figures in front of me that they're killing each other. What I'm saying is that unless you can broaden your demographic, we're never going to meet our targets for this quarter. This is supposed to be a world war, Belgium and the Netherlands isn't going to cut it.”
War squawks at me down the phone. It's hard to hear him over all the screaming in the background, but frankly I'm not interested in his excuses, I need to see results.
“What do I expect you to do? Do your job! Think outside the box! Look, Famine is in Europe right now, why
